OUR HISTORY AND PHILOSOPHY
Purnell combines a rich business heritage and acquired knowledge gained from dealing exclusively in European luxury motor vehicle brands.
We have been under one family ownership since 1974, with one single vision:

We believe that old-fashioned service is not old fashioned. Our role is to service and support Jaguar, Land Rover and INEOS customers to the best of our ability.
While our systems and processes rely on modern technology, we refuse to let it cloud our customer relationships. We value our customers’ needs above all else,championing and resolving their requirements to their satisfaction.
Our story so far
Purnell Motors incorporated and becomes a franchised motor dealer for a variety of English-built motor vehicle brands including Austin, Morris and Triumph. Dealership located on the Princes Highway, Arncliffe, Sydney
Purnell Motors founder and owner, Norm Purnell, commissions the famed architect Neville Gruzman to design the modern vision of a motor dealership, to be built in Arncliffe. No expense was spared.
Norm Purnell addresses the guests at the official dealership opening. Guest include renowned architect Neville Gruzman and the NSW Premier.
Norm Purnell sells the business to Allan Dale who also owns and operates similar businesses in Campsie, Sydney and Wollongong under ‘L&D Motors’. Under new ownership, Purnell adds the Jaguar and Land Rover brands
Changes in the economy with Australia’s first and most significant Luxury Car Tax sees Jaguar disappear for 25 years. Swedish brand, Saab introduced along with the Rover cars and Land Rover franchises. Saab product well received and remains part of the Purnell stable for 11 years.
Purnell Motors relocated from Arncliffe to a new facility at Blakehurst to service Sydney’s southern suburbs, whilst remaining central enough to conveniently support a much broader geographical region.
Purnell Motors announced as the Metropolitan Land Rover Dealer of the Year. Saab ceases production.
The Premier Automotive Group disbands. Purnell re-joins Jaguar with a renewed focus as part of the new Jaguar Land Rover world partnership. During this time Purnell Motors receives a facility upgrade.

Awarded National Jaguar Land Rover Dealer of the Year and Metropolitan Jaguar Land Rover Dealer of the Year – the first dealership in Australia to win back-to-back Dealer of the Year Awards.
